The first version of this song was recorded by The Top Notes and it was produced by Phil Spector. The songwriter Bert Berns absolutely hated Spector's production because it "killed the feel" of his song and is the reason it flopped as a single. So Bert decided to produce this version with The Isley Brothers and it became a huge hit.

A version is better than another version because of the rhythm, the beat, the enthusiasm. Okay? Okay ☺

The leading voice is fantastic but the background singing, not so much in my humble opinion. The Beatles version is my favorite.

The Beatles had more of an upbeat and catchy tune to this, but the original will always be great as well. They were both catchy and they still are!

My friend kept trying to argue with me that this was originally done by the Beatles. Stupid idiot doesn’t know the U.K stole half their songs from American blues.

Come on people both versions are great! I just hope who ever wrote this song got the credit they richly deserved!

Feels like a slightly pedestrian version of the Beatles cover

The horns make this one the gold standard. Also, imo, the vocals are better here, too.

This one is way more groovy and soulful. The Beatles cover is more of a pure rock song.

I don't know if I'm in a minority on this but I love the Top Notes version (as well as this one and the Beatles' version).
