Iron Maiden

Wrathchild

Metal For Muthas

Recorded November 1979 / Released 1980

This rare compilation album contained only the second released recording of Iron Maiden's material and also included various other NWOBHM bands during the height of the movements exposure.

The songs were recorded at EMI Manchester Square in November 1979, during which time Tony Parsons was a member of the band. However it is not 100% certain if he is actually on these recordings.

While Metal For Muthas was not earth-shattering in its effect on the music industry of that time, it was still an important stepping-stone for Iron Maiden. At the end of the Metal For Muthas tour, Maiden released their first self-titled studio album, which went straight to number four and sold over 50,000copies. Metal For Muthas may have had a significant impact in preparing the way for the new album and Iron Maiden.

Paul DiAnno - Vocals

Steve Harris - Bass

Dave Murray - Guitar

Tony Parsons - Guitar

Doug Sampson - Drums

the drummer is shit, but i love this arrangement. it's wild. if only clive had played on this. I'm curious how much of the weird echo stuff is from tony parsons. it's a cool sound

The Sun Will Rise Again

what are you talking about backing vocal? he's saying at around 1:56 sounds like a section in Stormbringer song. He's not talking about the quality

Doug was a good drummer, but holy shit what a difference Clive made when he joined, his style is much more alive and precise with so much feeling. We will never forget him, RIP!!

It's not a backing vocal. It's the Mp3 compression that sucks a lot.

I bought a copy of this album when it came out. Those were the days of vinyl & crackle, when digital sound just meant that my new Casio LCD wristwatch had an alarm on it (true story).
