I grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana listening to this woman on the radio. As they played great song after great song by her, I thought she was a superstar. It was only many years later that I discovered that very few even knew who she was. One of the highlights of my life was hearing her give a concert in a small club. She sang all the songs that I knew as her "hits" and some I had never heard before. They were all diamonds floating in the velvet black night.

Used to have a couple of 45s by Irma Thomas back in the 60s. Seemed like not to many folks knew her music here in Richmond VA back then. Sounds as good today as it did back then.
