Reading through these comments some more...someone mentioned below that a fiddle was different than a violin. To clarify for some here, a fiddle is simply a slang term for the instrument. A fiddle and a violin are exactly the same thing; he just saw some differently made instruments. The difference between the 2 in musician speak is in the style of music played. Classical, Irish, Scottish, (any "Celtic") , Bluegrass, country, etc. etc.) are all just styles of music, and most "fiddle" players use the term fiddle for their instruments, while it's usually the strictly trained classical musicians who can't seem to use that word. lol. Speaking as someone classically trained for decades... now mostly playing Irish and American fiddle music, It's all good. :) And I bet I say "fiddle" for my violin now more than the other. :)

And I'm pretty sure that it's a fiddle, not a violin. Violins are for classical music, Fiddles are more folk such. Fiddles are also more compact and rounded then a violin, which tends to be rather flat last I checked.

They're really very good and we should encourage them to keep working at it. Very impressive. It's nice to see fiddlers who are relaxed and into the "groove". Keep it up and you can be legendary.
