ECHI's All Time Favorite 100 SongsINXS"The Loved One" (1987 ReRecorded Version)In 1980 INXS recorded & released a song (a non INXS Original) called "THE LOVED ONE". Seven years later in 1987 they recorded it for their brilliant "KICK" a...lbum. The second version / the 1987 version changed my world. If I could put my name on any recording I wished I had sung, recorded, & released, it would be "THE LOVED ONE (1987)". Love this to death. The passion and lyrics and Michael's roaring vocals are everything to me. It has heart, pain, soul, passion and it rocks. I have played this on repeat 20/30 times in a row. Once I hear I can't get enough of it. 30 years later MICHAEL HUTCHENCE is still my second all time favorite male singer. Rest in peace beautiful MICHAEL. You are 4everTheLOVEDOne. Thank you INXS xxx ECHI

Can't believe this album was released 12 years before I was born! It's a shame we lack such great musicians these days.

Not all of it is but yeah it beats today's music. There is also some real amazing stuff from the '90s era. I love this album of theirs in particular 'cause my dad used to have it on around the house when I was growing up. I'm 31. You should check out Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams and Leonard Cohen's '80s and '90s albums too for more insane good shit. Peace.x

well I like the 1981 version too (BTW I think least people know that there actually IS a 1981 version ;)), but I must say in the '81 version the singer sounded way too (would-be) Mick Jagger ;-)

I am an 80's child.. so every one under 20 should not rag on the music of now - cos - in 25 years all the teeny boppers will be saying "oh i love music from 2012 cos music of today is so s*#t"... C there is good & bad in all eras.. i mean us 40 y/o's remember rick astley (young ones he = Justin B)

I have such good memories of this album... I guess I was about 12, it was the end of the 80s, my dad had just bought me my Amiga 500 which was the shit and I just kept listening to this album over and over again. There was so much hope in the 80s, everything felt alive and electric.

Another very underrated song. This song almost has a bluesy like "jam" quality to it. The chorus to this song is amazing. This is a third party song.
