His friend Tony Kakko helped him to realize that music is still the most important thing in his life and he should carry on with it. So he did but without Sami (he felt extremely sorry for that). Good team spirit is very important to him. Their feelings of enthusiasm and innocence disappeared when their success grew bigger after Oceanborn. All kinds of unpleasant "by-products" began to show up... users, spongers, clawbacks, scoffers... Slaying The Dreamer tells about that and big frustration.

Dear Winter Heart,thanks for replying.I've watched/read/listened a lot of stuff about them in Finnish during the last 9 yrs that I've been their fan.Tuomas has always respected Marco,in EOI DVD he told how impressed and honored he felt when he heard that Sinergy (with Marco) will join as NW's "warm-up" on Wishmaster tour.That tour and the whole year 2001 were stressfull to all in NW and they had arguments.After the tour Tuomas felt empty and not able to work in NW any more,so he closed it down.

You have no idea how untrue that is, really. Take Tarja as an example. She never liked Nightwish in the first place. But that was not the problem. Tuomas just wanted to sell the band. That's why he kicked Sami out, and invited Marco, who was a 'legend' in Finland even back then. He was popular and famous, and thus 'good' for the band. Tuomas hated him, which you can see in EOI DVD, but he spat on his pride once more. Slaying the Dreamer can tell you something about that as well.

The musical differences between Sami and Tuomas became too big and Sami was loosing interest in the band. You can find some info in NWs official website: check The Band, Biography, 2001... It was very difficult time in many ways. Also Wikipedia tells something in English about Sami Vänskä. He joined a BLUES band called Root Remedy but left it in 2008...

It's very tender and sweet how Marco hesitates and shows modest at Tuomas' compliments, when he is clearly epic in any single gesture of his body and in any single sound that comes out from his lips! He deserves every compliment! Tuomas' gaze and attitude are both sweet and unsettling...it would freak me out to live with a person like that, even only for friendship or for working together like they do!But as a psychologist, understanding a patient like that would be my dream challenge!

They are very cute! ^^ But: there is a lot, too much of talking about Tarja's farewell, but who knows anything about Sami's farewell? Can anybody tell me anything please? I thought that the "personal problems" Tuomas refers to were with Tarja, how was Sami concerned? I still didn't know about NW back in 2001... and i could never imagine NW without Marco though! He's definitely my fav guy!
