I absolutely love In Flames (right back back to Clayman and onwards to SOAPF) and this album just makes me love them even more! It's a real game changer, putting out something this different and I personally think it's very brave of them. It's a shame that people are so resistant to change and I don't blame this band for wanting to try something different with their style and where they want to go. I think it shows a real sign of maturity, that they're trying to reach out to wider audiences and provide something new and brilliant for their current fans to listen to at the same time (because not everyone likes the screamy-shouty thing despite this band getting it right most of the time). In all honesty, I think this specific song speaks more about the band's change in direction before anything else. Just look at these lyrics:'How come we walk a mile just to shatter what we love, Eyes wide open, Reflections of an unfamiliar face, Saying, "You know where you're heading."' God, when I hear those lyrics in this song, everything inside me is screaming that this is direction they wanted to take and they knew what they were doing and they knew how much it was going to turn fans away but they still did it because it's what feels right for Them! That takes guts, people.If this is the direction they're heading (and I really hope it is!) I'm going to be with them every step of the way! Keep going, In Flames, you're doing an amazing job!

I have to say this is the instrumentals in this song are weak and rarely satisfy, anders is the only member to show progression in this album, however I've seen him live and he sounds like a dying goat while trying to sing the high notes, the album is good but they fabricated his voice so much, he doesn't have a voice that high idk what they did. But its all effects for his range here. Sad as SOAPF was a leap forward and now this is just auto tune....

Eyes Wide Open, isn't that a band name? They have much better songs than this though, they sound like in Flames back in the Come Clarity to before sense of purpose. quality music still with the grit of a metal band.

Look, In Flames is not what they were in the early 90's, or even the 2000's.  They have progressed and have written great music all along the way.  There is nothing wrong with trying something new and giving it a shot.  Is this album heavy?  No, but it has some flourishes.  If you don't like it, that then don't listen
