Lyrics:

"I often dream of huge numb buildings,

Jet-black sinister architecture

Being installed when nobody sees

Their appearance so sudden

That few would take notice

And when I wake up

I imagine being crushed by one

Imaginating it's weight, it's silence

And the absence of excuses for a havoced life

And the priviledge of a 22-kilometers tombstone

Jotun

A body of black

That carried no reflection

Defying it's own room

Un-earthly egg of decreation

There would be colonies

Mushroom-scattered forever out of context

Rising spores from a dying world

To pollute and chase away what's left

Sun-white pulverised desert stone

And serpentine lizard mouths

Pales away the pyramids

Rewriting 4500 years of history

Raping the Statue of Liberty

Outplays the acropolis

Inverting the fjords

Invades the N Y skyline to

Dream its own existence in one single final word

Jotun

A body of black

That carried no reflection

Defying it's own room

Un-earthly egg of decreation

Can we identify them

As the flint buried in our reptile skulls

Or the time-bomb coded in our DNA

Jotun

A body of black

That carried no reflection

Defying it's own room

Un-earthly egg of decreation"

Listen closely to the first riff under the melody. It's nearly identical to the main riff on The Police's 'Message in a Bottle'. Almost like how the main riff on 'The Hive' sounds awfully similar to the main riff of Firehouse's 'Overnight Sensation'.Jesper really had a thing for 70s and 80s pop rock (clearly evident when they covered 'World of Promises' and 'Land of Confusion').To be fair, I prefer that era of Jesper's musical style than what happened from 2002 onward.

Great couple albums i got from them. I saw someone with this t-shirt on the other day and i loved in flames.I picked this up along with abducted(hypocrisy) and a couple other nuclear blast releases that year.

This and Gyroscope are my favorite songs from this album, though they're all awesome. Food for the Gods is pretty sweet too!

can't hear him sing the word "Jotun".. i suppose it's obscured by the final word of the previous line.

My first metal album and this it's first song. Everytime i listen to this song i feel like when i first listened to a metal album. It's sad what they have become after Clayman In Flames just got worse and worse with every album.Don't get me wrong everything up until A sense of purpose was really good but sopf and by he looks of it the new album just isn't In Flames

Man I love those spoken word vocals at the beginning and 2nd verse. How hauntingly they are spoken is amazing.
