Do you have to change the string gauge when tuning this low on a bass or are the strings chunky enough?

shitty song, but when i used to listen to this in middle school i thought the chorus was the drummer and not the bassist slapping away.  So he gets a couple points of respect from me for that

The slap bass line in the chorus is my favorite bass-line of any part, of any song, ever. Haha Field-Dogg is the shit!

His tone is insanely awesome.

It's all a tremendous idea with a bass player explaining his lines himself and the video with tabs flowing and hands close-ups etc, but it'd be waaay easier if they published the tabs in a regular text form (or even Guitar Pro), the best with note values, 'cause its freaking (on a leash) hard to follow the numbers and symbols with your eyes and find the right rhytm, let alone learning to play... (although it's possible, of course)

Fieldy has some sweet hands (no homo)

And really low action on the fretboard.

Boost all lows and highs and cut all mids. That's how you get the tone.

it might be the gauge. l have an 8 string guitar. The 8th string is a 74, it rattles a little even normal tuning. but l have a 6 string that l tuned to G# (4 steps down) it rattles like crazy but it doesn't go through the amp. Hmm l'm pretty curious.

I'm not sure. the closest I got to this sound was turning up the treble all the way and loosening the strings a lot.
