MrRocking Daddy1 - perhaps your constant '' objections '' against Imelda, coming from your closed mind, prejudice, stereotyping, stigma and '' Bad music ear '' and some possible psychiatric condition ?!

Ottima versione al femminile del brano di Buddy Holly. Grazie Imelda.

Woohoo! Love this! Just discovered this Buddy Holly tribute album via watching a Chris Isaak video (he sings Crying, Waiting, Hoping on the same album).

Yes, I like the early version of Maybe Baby but it wasn't recorded in Nashville for Decca, it was recorded by Norman Petty. And - no offense here, just a comment - I note that you've posted it and referred to it as the original - but it's the overdubbed version. The undubbed version was once a rarity but not these days; it's part of the 'Complete' set issued by Hip-O-Select. Take a listen, you might prefer it. Best wishes from one Rockabilly fan to another - and all Rockabilly fans!

The Decca version has it's charms and I think I prefer the Decca version of Maybe Baby to the hit version, but, no matter how you look at it, it's no wonder Buddy refused to let anyone (Read interfering producers) tinker with his sound, after the Decca fiasco

Yes - I'll buy THAT. I liked I'm Looking...instantly, when I bought the album back in 1963 and I listen to far more often than That'll Be The Day. And I never listen to the Decca/Nashville version. Thanks, take care.

Ok I'll buy that, but, this song was meant to be the A side

Hi ShoknifemanmmT Hmm...maybe. As both sides of the first Crickets single were recorded during the same session (which was held specifically to record those two songs) I don't know know if I'd call That'll Be The Day an unreleased demo. Both tracks were unreleased: they were the demo. Whatever the truth of it is, the original version of this song is a great record that I listen to often. Philip Norman's biography of Holly describes the scene of the recording session well - and a lot more!

Actually , TBTD was the B side, THIS was the A side ; What happened was that they had already released TBTD on Decca , but, it had been countrified by the producer and flopped (Which is why Buddy began to be his own producer); So, after recording Looking for someone, they needed a B side for the single and grafted on an unreleased demo of TBTD, which ironically became the biggest hit of Buddy's short career
