Aretha Louise Franklin, the Queen of the Soul!!!

Lyrics:

I'm wandering, been moving to and from

just wandering, with no place to go,

since I lost you, lost you, all I ever do

is be wandering, 'til I wander back to you...

Oh, I'm wishing, been yearning for your kiss,

oh and I've been missing, the warmth of your caress,

since I lost you, I lost you, all I ever do

is be wandering, wandering, wandering,

wandering, I'll be wandering, 'til I wander back to you...

I look on every corner, down every dismal street,

are you there?, are you there?, oh darling I repeat...

I visit all familiar places, there's no one there but me,

where can you be?, where can you be?

oh darling, where can you be?...

Oh I'm praying, your touch for me has grown,

oh and I'm saying, for before it's not been known

I love you, I love you, and all I ever do

is be wandering, crying, wandering, wandering

I'll be wandering, 'til I wander, 'til I wander back to you

yeah, oh yeah, I'm gonna be, I'm gonna be wandering

'til I wander back to you, yeah, yeah,

oh wandering back to you!

Very few people remember that this song was ORIGINALLY recorded by Jackie Wilson in 1958. Berry Gordy wrote it for Jackie. I think his one is still the best and Jackie turns it out with gut wrenching passion. Check it out....it's on youtube.

I really enjoy this version of the song compared to the Lexus commercial. Aretha sings with such passion her voice is remarkable.

Feel badly about admitting to the fact I enjoy the Lexxus commericial's version much, much better. Sorry Aretha.

Lighten up lady. If you don't like the commercial, change the channel. If you don't like the song, don't play it. If you don't like her version, don't buy it. If those suggestions don't work, change your medication.

Both versions are terrific. Put Kristina Trains version is un fing believable. Almost sounds like a completely different song. Haunting arrangement and voice.

agree...she had family pressure to sign to Columbia, where they had their own people who never understood the type of talent she had...

hard to explain indeed...Katrina's voice is so pleasant and unclouded, a truly infectious hook that gets you deep deep into your chore :)

Katrina's version is pretty spectacular and captivating...she possesses the kind of voice hypnotizes you...Aretha goes more in crescendo :)

If Aretha had recorded this same song in Muscle Shoals instead of Columbia as noted here, it may have been an entirely different song. She tries to let loose, but she is somewhat restrained with John Hammond compared to what she would have done with Jerry Wexler! Still great...but not as great as it could have been!

where the heck did you find the lyrics?! or were you capable enough to write em yourself? cause if the latter is the case, THANK YOU 2 hours of google/bing searches brought me nothing and i couldn't figure out why -_-

I knew I had heard it before the commerciak! Thank you Justice for the lyrics! Ahh Aretha, you magnificent artist, you wrote and sang this haunting piece of music and implanted it in my soul. I love the Kristina Train version too! Different. Poetic. Beautiful piece of music - long overlooked.

I 100% agree. Aretha Franklin's version has that funky soul feeling to it, its loud and bold. Katrina's is slower and much sadder, more emotional and dreamy. More in the likes of Florence and the Machine meets Etta James.

Amen! I went crazy after I heard it..had to find it! I play the piano and want to find the accompaniment for this song, does anyone have any ideas where I might be able to find it?

Aretha's version has soul, of course, but Katrina's version stirs more emotions in me..I heard it on the Lexus commercial and jumped off the couch to look it up..had it been Aretha's version, I'd still be on the couch..
