I'm Losing You originally appeared on John Lennon's final studio album, Double Fantasy, released in 1980, mere weeks before he was murdered.

The album featured some terrific material from Lennon, such as Woman, Starting Over, and Watching the Wheels. However, one of the highlights of the album is I'm Losing You, a bluesy rock song. While admittedly overproduced, the version of I'm Losing You features a superb Lennon vocal and some cracking new age guitar riffs. In recent years, it has almost become a universal truth that the version Lennon played in the studio with Cheap Trick (and featured on the 1998 John Lennon Anthology collection), is superior, I disagree. I think the Double Fantasy version has a superior Lennon vocal, albeit with a little less raw emotion. I also like the production, and it is the last piece of acid Lennon spewed on record, in his own inimitable way of course.
