This is the only song in the entire competition that had a proper melody, which you can remember and hum to uyourself; it is an extremely well-shaped and orchestrated song. And extremely well-delivered. The best in the entire competition. Only one or two other singers might have been able to sing it and they were all female, anyway. The thing is, the judges were probably taken aback at the strength of this composition and the varied power of these three voices, but since they were on a pre-determined path, they had to follow through. I believe the reason was purely political. Il Volo's song is about the grand love of a lifetime. Sweden's song is yet another one about people winning over imagined or real hardships. Politically themed. Some countries got it right and gave the most points to this more-than-talented trio, because they were listening to the song, not watching a fireworks or dancing show. In that case, Il Volo should have won too, because they were different from almost everybody else - the mark of real artistes.
