Sounds like Big Joe Turner to me.

This is my nominee for first rock n' roll song. You've got a backbeat so focused on pounding out the rhythm that it goes off beat at times, a distorted guitar riff, wailing horns, piano triplets, and the same changes and melody you might expect from Chuck Berry. You even have a dude yelling randomly in background. I mean you can feel the energy in the room as they recorded this song. If this isn't rock n' roll, then I'm not into whatever is.

Any way you wanna argue it. Rick & roll is a black music. I can sing most of elvis and jerry lee lewis songs over this black 1 -2 - 3 blues turaround. They were very thorough about taking it. Every kid today thinks whites made rock n roll. Blacks were powerless. Hip hop was the first black music that white people couldn't steal right away

"Rock'n'Roll" is just another way of saying, "Rhythm'n'Blues". The oldest Rock'n'Roll record in my collection is Pine Top Smith's "Pine Top's Boogie Woogie" from 1928.

Oh, hell.  Even Tina Turner has said that the movie is bullshit.  She tried to talk to the Disney Executives but they would not listen to her.  They bought the story, and they were going to do whatever they wanted.  That said, I would not want Ike Turner as a neighbor or business associate.  He was much more self-destructive than a "wife beater."  Wives sometimes get the way when you're trying to self-destruct.  Given his psychological problems and his drug addictions, it's amazing he was as successful as he was.

It's Jackie Brenston singing here... not Ike Turner.  In fact, the record is billed as "Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats". It is indeed Ike Turner playing the rockin' piano. The band is actually Ike's "Kings of Rhythm", including Raymond Hill on tenor sax, Willie Sims on drums and Willie Kizart on guitar.
