And I really hope that most would know that Sly and the family stone created this....Ike and Tina borrowed this and so did the Jackson 5 in 1969....first album.....

Jimi did a thing, (We Gotta Live Together) based on this riff at the Fillmore East 69/70 New Years concerts. Who knows he may have come up with the riff back in the first place in the early days when played for a short time with Ike & Tina?

I'm noticing only now that I made a mistake in the video introduction: this record was not recorded in 1973 but in 1969! :-D

I think the first is the Sly & The Family Stone one, which was recorded in 1968. Ike & Tina recorded this in 1969.

In fact, I thought this was a Mash-Up of the two songs when I heard it on internet radio just a moment ago!

So which one did this melody first? Ike & Tina? Or Sly and the Family Stone? This is my first time hearing this song! I Really Dig it though! I grew up on "Sing a simple Song" though. Crazy!
