It's amazing how little the present generation, so in tune with music, knows about Roy Hamilton. For me, and with no disrespect to the Righteous Brothers, no one ever sang Unchanined Melody as well as he. That has a slight edge on If I Loved You, but barely.

I personally feel that Roy Hamilton's interpretation is the best of them all, setting aside of course, the original version from Carousel the 50's movie classic. Thank you for uploading it. Clicked "like".

@herbergreen According to Elvis presley The Originals, the song was performed in the musical by John Raitt, but his studio recording was only made at some time between 9 and 21 May, whereas Frank Sinatra's version was recorded on 1 May 1945. The very first recording of the number, however, seems to be that made by Bing Crosby on 18 April 1945 and released as the A-side of Decca 18686.

For those who want to know more about the meaning of this song, it was used in a show called Carousel in the 50s, but I'm not sure which came first, Roy's version, or the show. Also, in a different light, what makes this and a lot of other RH songs so beautiful are the great orchestral arrangements of O.B. Massengill. They are a perfect match for Roy's voice.

A close friend of mine emailed me this. I think she's trying to send me a message. Still trying to figure it out. I'll have to listen again...
