The Idle race must have been the most wonderful thing that ever happened to the World next to those very special guys from Liverpool....

The Idle Race were a British rock group from Birmingham in the late 1960s and early 1970s who had a cult following but never enjoyed mass commercial success

I used to work at a record store and there came a time when we had to sort through our overstock and undesireables which numbered in the hundreds of thousands and while i was sorting i came accross the idle race first lp. I liked the cover (lol) so I put it on and was completely blown away. since then everybody i show them to is completely baffled as to why they had never heard it before. I take them with everywhere i go as a result. Cheers to jeff lynne and company and thanks for posting!!!!

A nice band. Sort of reminds me of The Move. Of course, Jeff was in both bands at one time or another. He joined The Move during their latter days, if memory serves.

Great songsmith is Lynne. Check out Trojan Horse by Daybreaker if you can get it, reminds me of the Idle Race.

This was never a hit in England.Nor was anything by Idle Race although 'Skeleton' almost made it into the Top 50. Mr Lynne was taken up by the masses eventually......... thankfully !

It took his moving on to The Move to connect with future ELO drummer Bev Bevan, that and working with many other big names like George Harrison, the all around influences are now History!

it isn't hard to see why Jeff went on to have such stunning success with ELO and as a producer. Sublime..what else can you say?
