Being a Purple fan, I bought this as soon as came out. Seriously impressed with Ian's completely different style here. A great intro to Jazz/Funk. And as a hard-core Sci-fi fan, I loved the cover, too!

F**king Hell When I bought this in !977 My 16 & 13 year old neighbours, and my 12 year old brother all laughed at me,Because it wasn't like "child in Time" (ripped off it's a Beautiful Day, check for your self) or Black Night (see The Sectres, and Rick Springfield's summertime). Well he who laughs last..And Long Live Chris Foss-the artist, but not time for bitter recrimination, time to dance like a mother....

Ian Gillan in a jazz-rock (a little bit funky a little bid disco) band was marvellous. For my ears.

The Ian Gillan Band were a separate band entirely from Gillan. IGB were basically a jazz rock/fusion band. They split up in 1978 a year later Gillian and Colin Towns formed the new band 'Gillan' which was a more traditionally hard rock band.
