Is it just me or does it sound like his voice is auto-tuned in some spots? I wonder if the audio is from a re-release where they tried to "fix" the rough spots. Only problem is the imperfections of Ian's vocal delivery is what made his stuff great.

I really want to like this guy's work, and I do think he was likable, and worthy of respect as a person but everything I've heard, with the exception of one song, is musically very weak. He may have been a strong lyricist but his style was so dry, so anti-singing, it always sounds like a joke and that everything he wrote was a novelty song. I just don't get it. :|

Help out a poor dimbulb - I see the clips, but I'm still having trouble figuring out what"inbetweenies" are. But 'pub rock' rocks and the Blockheads nailed it. I first heard these guys on LA radio station KROQ back in the late 70's on the Frazier Smith show. "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" and "Wake Up And Make Love With Me" got a lot of airplay, BACK IN THE DAY.
