unfortunately, they do stand alone after the fact because, instead of people thinking of the ones fighting, no one thinks about the wounded who come home only for our gov't not to do a dang thing to support their medical cost. TOO, TOO, many soldiers are sitting at home right now with PTSD, no legs, no normal thought pattern, and what does our gov't do, Make them wait. "Oh , their home now with their life" which consist of not knowing how to live or function. These are the ones who stand alone.
