a nice kid was working for me recently. He's from Hawaii and he's been a music producer. We started talking music and I mentioned Bette Midler. Silence. "Do you know who she is?" "No." It was my turn for silence. I can honestly say that I can't think of ANYONE from the current crop of singers who attacks their material with the same kind of visceral emotionality that she did and does. The music is great - the performance is great - I know EXCATY who to send it to!

I saw bette in london in 1978. she was very good and great to her audience/s, the night i went i was so excited, i nearly forgot to breathe!! (and didnt she develop performance of this song through the decades.)
