この曲は、ビートルズのデビューアルバムの「プリーズ・プリーズ・ミー」の一曲目の作品です。しかも、彼らのオリジナル曲です。このアルバムには、14曲が収録されていますが、そのうちの何と8曲が彼らのオリジナル作品です。当時のバンドでオリジナル中心というバンドはいなかったと思います。ライバルとされたストーンズのデビューアルバムは12曲で、オリジナルは3曲でした。アニマルズにいたっては、12曲中1曲だけでした。そんな状況でオリジナルが過半数を占めているというのは、やはりビートルズは異例の存在と言えるでしょう。つまり、自分達で作詞作曲をして演奏をして歌まで歌うというロックバンドの基本を作ったバンドといえるでしょう。
