PS - The Gershwins' full- opera version does drag rather long for some of us impatient types; I can't help wondering how the operetta or Broadway- musical type transformation of the work would be ... but can't find the Sammy Davis, Jr. movie of such a version ...9 years ago

One of the most poignant duets of all time ... so beautifully acted and sung here! How George Gershwin could have captured the intensity and beauty within the Carolina African- American milieu is a wonder beyond time!! It's constructed rather like "Bess, yo' is my woman now," the more famous duet from earlier in PORGY AND BESS: Each voice sings separately for most of the number, and then come together in ravishing fashion for the last part :)9 years ago

When I first heard this played by a professional pianist I was beside myself; granted, I was 19 at the time. It doesn't matter the age, but how you feel the music.
