Michael Crawford always puts so much emotion into his art. He puts his whole heart in to his singing and this makes this song absolutely incredible. I think this is better than the original. Sorry...

I'm crying so much. The man I adore the most singing the song that makes my world disappear. I know when he's gone I'll see him when I sing this song.

I absolutely agree, he always gives magical performances every time. This cover is beautiful and superbly emotional and very much as good as the original. Just breaks my heart to listen to this song every time...... thanks for sharing the music of the day and night of this musical dream of a man :)))

Once again Michael shows that he has the best male tenor voice of all time. For my money, I'd pay to see him over anyone.

kali1607Michael is probably better known in the UK for the comedy series, "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em" than for Phantom.

This is actually not an uncommon song for male artists to sing, even members of the Rat Pack have covered this. But in my opinion of all the brave men to have performed this Michael Crawford's is the greatest. My next favorite male cover of this song would be the delicate, almost A cappella performance by Mandy Patinkin. Michael has something naturally melancholic in his voice, there is an old soul beating within him, a maturity and compassion that has experienced (and understands) all the saddest points of human history. Some people like Anne Hathaway "act" out an emotion, but with Michael the emotions are just part of who he is, he could sing Marry had a Little Lamb, yet there would be something poignant, and dreamy just under the surface. Every phrase he sings has an ease as if he were making the lyrics up as he went along. That kind of sincerity literally comes along about once in a generation, and why he's a legend, its like Billie Holiday's singing or Judy Garland or Karen Carpenter. When the mood comes as naturally to you as breathing. And why he can sing so many songs meant for a wide variety of characters, and yes some for women, like Tell Me on a Sunday, Memory, Wishing You are Somehow Here Again, On My Own, and still often have one of the best versions. The comments saying this isn't as good as Ramin Karimloo's are very non-specific. The version of I Dreamed a Dream on Ramin’s album had overdone guitar accompaniment and the arrangement of a pop song, and he sung it without Crawford's musical dynamics. How this could be thought to be a more appropriate singing to musical theater or simply even the mood of the music is beyond me. If you want to talk to me about Ramin's flair for drama as Enjolras or the Phantom thats another story, but in that song I think he shows he still is growing as an artist, and should sing it again later in his career once he has more life experience. Michael sang it with both more expression and more sophistication.

I can never understand why Michael Crawford ever went in for comedy acting as he has no talent as a comedian. But the moment he opens his mouth to start singing, his true talent simply pours out.

Christ Almighty, this man's voice is utterly incredible. He is my favorite Phantom, and definitely one of my favorite people (plus his mask is pretty badass). I dreamed that The Music of the Night never ended, and obviously, that dream came to be. May Michael Crawford grace stages with his presence for years to come!

I thought I'd never see an other guy sing this but Ramin. Interesting to have found this. I love mc as phantom and a lot of what he does but I didn't like this. Ramin sang it better!!!
