On this day in 1956 {October 4th} the weekly variety show 'The Ford Show', starring Tennessee Ernie Ford, premiered on the NBC-TV network... At the time Mr. Ford did not have a record on the Top 100; so he sang his rendition of "I Almost Lost My Mind, and at that moment Pat Boone's version was in its 19th week of being on Billboard's Top 100 chart {on August 4th it had reached #1 for two weeks}... R.I.P. Mr. Ford {1919 - 1991} and Mr. Boone celebrates his 80th birthday come next June 1st...

On a 78 RPM record, yet! I guess they must have made 78s through the late 1950s and early 1960s.

I was born in 1967. I remind well the time the early 70s, at that time, my parents had a nice PHILIPS tape recorder and many reels of tape, was also on a "I almost lost my mind" by Pat Boone. Very nice cuddly blues, which is characterized by its very pleasant, warm voice. This song is still played occasionally on German oldies radio stations. With songs like this, I always associate back fond childhood memories. Thanks for uploading and greetings from the autumn, but still quite warm Germany.

@CrisVangel It was called "I'm In Love With You" (also a great song), which I noticed has been posted on YouTube! Incidentally "I Almost Lost My Mind" was #1 on the Disk Jockey chart for 4 weeks (July 1956) and #2 on the Best Sellers

Pat hit #2 in Billboard, 7-7-56. God bless ya, brother Pat! Thanx, my friend, for postin' it. Have a great week!

Pat's having a hit with this probably helped give Ivory Joe Hunter the exposure to boost his own hit with "Since I Met You Baby" later that year.

This is the version I remember most, the one I had to have as a teen back around '56. I didn't know then that Ivory Joe Hunter not only wrote it but also recorded it. I now have both and lean a little toward Ivory Joe's due to originality.

Smooth. One of the best. I love to try to sing it like him in the shower. My version's all wet.
