The Third album was cleverly designed to shake off the casual stoner listeners that mis-understood the first 2 albums for merely pandering to those who wanted to get high, & disperse the "coffee table" culture that had pigeon holed their sound. This is a band who don't have a "best album" as such, but each one has some killer tracks on. The last 4 tracks on Third are quite literally the most distinguished pieces I've heard for such a long time now. It's a shame more bands don't follow their example, & write music less focused on trend, club scene, & genre specifics; & just write melody from the heart, with sounds derived from experimentation, to structure that is unpredictably charismatic, expressing a deep dark mysterious soul.11 years ago
