Released only in 2008, Howlin Rain's second album "Magnificent Fiend" marries acid and country rock together, creating something beautiful and relevant. Although not as fuzzed-out as their eponymous debut, the songcraft is strong throughout and the 5th track Nomads perfectly sums up the easygoing vibes.

@Shotgunnova I agree..."Lord Have Mercy" is one of my faves on the Magnificent Fiend album too. It has a nice jamming guitar solo at the end which reminds me of Steve Howe from Yes for some reason or other (not as flashy but good). I like Howlin Winds first album and their "The Russian Wilds" album too. It seems that Howlin Rain's music is such an amalgam of different stylistic elements blended together and they are such a talented band to pull it off.15 years ago

I dunno, I've really come around to thinking Magnificent Fiend is better than their debut -- not as rocking but man it's just awesome. "Lord Have Mercy" in particular.16 years ago
