In November 1981 Klaatu -- the secret identity band who were thought to be the Beatles reunited -- came out of hiding and went on tour to promote their 5th studio album 'Magentalane'. Here, for the first time outside of fan conventions, that footage from that tour is available to see. The audio is from a show in Saskatoon, the footage is from their two-nighter at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto. The audio is available on the band's latest rarities collection 'Solology'.

Hi, Jaimie! Any more footage from this concert? Incredibly precious. Thanks a lot, 'cause Klaatu still is the best.

Dee Long, a remarkable guitarist! This was not their best work, but it was in an effort to be recognized by the masses as a top 40 band. The first three albums ("3:47 EST," "Hope," and "Sir Army Suit") were phenomenal and underrated records.

This song sounds reminiscent of stuff by Max Webster.

Dave Myles was never in Klaatu. The bassist for the entore live tour in 1981/1982 was Mike Gingrich (ex-Nightwinds); Further...the keyboardist in this video is Gerald O'Brien (ex-Surrender). Watkinson joined the tour in 1982 after O'Brien left to join Wrabit. McCracken would also leave to join Wrabit in 1982 and was replaced by Marty Morin (Goddo, Wireless). anyone have the original LP covers? there are two reoccurring visual themes... the Sun of course... but go looking for the mice on the ensuing vinyl covers (not sure if the CD reproductions carried the details)

Okay... not alot of you will know this. When Max Webster disbanded in 1981, Kim Mitchell took a hiatus - actually produced the first Coney Hatch LP during that time. What you might not know is that Max Webster alumni Terry Watkinson (keys left side of screen), Dave Myles (right side of screen) and Gary McCracken (drums) joined John Woloschuk, Dee Long and Terry Draper to take this magic live. I was blessed to see them three times - twice in Brampton at Sparkys & once at the Rondun Tavern in TO

@msexcelexcel There was no Larry in Klaatu. The Larry that you're thinking of is Lawrence "Larry" Gowan, who was also a Canadian musician who had some success in the 80s, particulary with his Criminal Mind album. Since 1999, he has been the lead singer of Styx, after the departure of Dennis DeYoung
