Sometimes it takes somebody taking the backseat to create balance and great music. To take your example, Ler almost always is in the backseat despite being an incredible musician. If everyone's trying to be the most amazing member in a band, you just end up being Dream Theater.

@Wabaanimkii IMO its not the technicality of the drums but eh fact that almost no measures are the same. The exercise of separating the same amount of time in as many different ways possible sounds totally in sync with the song's lyrics and meaning and adds to the poetry of the song. Sometimes talent is not about technicalities but about multiple meanings and elegance.
