When I was in high school (Van Nuys High - Home of the Internet!) every band played this tune. I like this version, and, of course, I wish I could make my mandolin sound like this.(I've got the sheet music for the Hendrix version next to my music stand - just glancing at it scares me.)

Great version and you got the lyrics right. Can't hardly find one version in 20 now that start with Joe with the "money in his hand." He first has to go buy that "blue steel 44" before he can go find his ol' lady.
