This is a good slower version of the tune.

the classic song of heartbreak and betrayal. i've always loved Hendrix's version of this track, but this a fine closer to this fantastic album. (its noted Bonniwell wanted this was out by Hendrix but was knocked back) that guitar at 2:40 is amazing, and there is such emotion in Bonniwell's voice towards the end.

P.S. Better add Seal's version to this list...a favorite, updated version...from the 90s

One of my favorite versions. Music Machine was ahead of their time & gone too soon.

My favorite Hey Joes: Leaves, Music Machine, Hendrix, Mute Drivers. About in that order.

You need to get your ears checked out! I love this band!

This is an amazing version. Right up there with Love's version. Bonniwell's vocal is seamless here. He is missed, think it was 2011 he died.

This is second only to the Leaves version.

I have listened to most of the covers, but I have to say the Leaves are the best. I guess I really like upbeat music more than a dirge.

One of the most underrated black rock n roll bands ever to come out in the mid 60's! I remember watching them on the American Bandstand 'Talk, Talk' & 'Come On In' Bonniwell and Music Machine way ahead of what we call black rock n roll! All credits belonging to Music Machine! Very simple this works!

Uh...yeah...the Music Machine's version of "Hey Joe" was recorded by the band prior to Hendrix recording his version...

Hey, Joe, what about it's writer, Chester Powers aka Dino Valenti from the old Quicksilver Messenger Service, original version

I generally like all versions of this song, even the gimmicky slowed down versions, but this is the lamest: a cover version of a cover version. While there's no doubt that The Leaves' original recording is the best, there are also great cover versions by The Surfaris, Love, The Byrds, and the Standells. The Standells' version is even faster than the original. Hendrix was introduced to the song by Chas Chandler who liked Tim Rose's slowed-down novelty version. This is a cover of Jimi's cover.

It is truly amazing when you realize that this song made the rounds of the world and the man, Billy Roberts, a southerner who went to the South Carolina military school and given credit on the Jimi Hendrix version of the tune -- cripes it made Billy some money, right -- and all you got to do is put Billy Roberts in YOUTUBE search to find it...
