True lovers of early ’90’s House, rejoice: Hercules & Love Affair is back.
Bringing us the perfect blend of disco and house, Hercules & Love Affair have released the video for their standout single ‘Do you feel the same?’ from their third album ‘The Feast of the Broken Heart’. Known for their energetic live performances, this video has Hercules all over it.
The video, directed by AlexandLianne, was shot using an infra-red camera and features creative outfit design from renowned fashion designer Bernhard Wilhelm to put a twisted fluorescent spin on the post-apocalyptic desert scene. The video also features performances from contemporary ballet dancer and choreographer Josh Johnson and other dancers from the Forsythe company to match the soulful 90s house vocals from Belgian singer Gustaph and bouncy energy of the track.
“If I burn down the city, would you put out the flames?/If it all ends in ashes, would you still say my name?” Gustaph ponders atop a classic four-to-the-floor pulse, squeezing in quite nicely with the throwback vibrations being provided by Disclosure‘s Settle and Katy B‘s been providing with Little Red. (Then again, H&LA have been bringing that sort of sound since 2008. #Innovators!) With its bright piano chords, catchy chants (“Do ya, do ya, do ya feel the same?“) and sparse tingles of modern electronica, “Do You Feel The Same?” suggests that the this record will be yet another successful outing on the dance floor for the troupe.
