The first song I ever remember hearing and if I'm so lucky, it will be the last thing I ever hear. My favourite song of all songs.

A beautiful instrumental, that will be played at my wake!

Some songs just don't need any words. The trumpet just "sings" the feeling throughout the melody for the missing voice. This was and still is one of Herb Alpert's finest melodies. Instrumentals were once so cool -- in some respects today -- a forgotten art form. Maybe it's better -- it takes a real musician/composer to write something meaningful with no words.

I remember this arrangement with Herb, on a television special walking thru Ellis Island describing what of been like when his Mom &Dad imigrated from Kiev Ukraine his heritage of Jewish, Russian and Hungarian, very touching tribute.

The flip side of "This Guy's In Love With You". I played the heck out of this 45 when I was six years old (1968).

@jackdefilippo Yes Vic Damone sang the lyrics on his version but Herb Alpert's Tijuana trumpet is the best.
