Mary Timony = awesome. This interviewer, not so much. Mary states more than once that she was tired of people reading politics, iconography and other heavy imagery into her music, but the interviewer kept going on with that line of questioning. And what "medieval" instrumentation is on The Magic City? There's strings and synths, which were different for Helium at the time, but I don't think they had synthesizers in medieval times. :-)

This looked like a phenomenal show - where was it? It seems a lot of journalists miss the humor in Helium's work. Even at their angriest, there was always something infantile about their rage that let you know they didn't take themselves so seriously (but managed to be kinda creepy too). Thanks for posting.

From Autoclave, thru Helium, and on to WIld Flag, the music of Mary Timony truly rocks my soul. Such beauty, and such a beautifully fresh creative spirit both shine through in this old interview. Keep on rockin' Mary!

Ha, I love the cheesy font used to show her name and band. Mary is awesome though then and now.
