Helen Reddy won the very first American Music Award for favorite pop female vocalist. Subsequent to receiving the coveted award, she sang a partial medley (excluding Leave Me Alone which she had sung to open the show) of all her hits to that point (which was early 1974).

On this date in 1971 {May 1st} Helen Reddy performed performed "I Don't Know How to Love Him" and "Crazy Love" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand... Four months earlier on February 20th earlier "I Don't Know How to Love Him " entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; eventually it peaked at #13 and spent 20 weeks on the Top 100... Also in 1971 on August 7th "Crazy Love" made the Top 100, it reached #51 and in the Top 100 for 9 weeks... R.I.P. Mr. Clark...12 years ago
