Heavenly - Time Machine - Glorious melodic metal taken from the album "Coming from the Sky" (2000 Noise Records). Featuring guest appearances from Kai Hansen of Gamma Ray / Helloween and Piet Sielck of Iron Savior / Savage Circus.

[INTRO]

I'm lost in a sphere

What am I doing here

The time machine

My ultimate dream

I'm going back in time

The gateway now is mine

Should I stop at last

And never see the past

Tonight it will be done

And I will be the one

To discover to the core

What no other saw before

[VERSE 1]

I just stepped into a time

When man fought to be alive

The only thing they wanted

The right to choose for their life

To live as free men their own style

But time moves on and we're here

Just for a while

Then we die

[VERSE 2]

I'm going even beyond

The ancient traces of man

A paradise so divine

Will never come back again

We'll destroy it in the end

But time moves on and we're here

Just for a while

Then we die

[BRIDGE]

WHOOHH

What is next to see

Whatever happens to me

I have no fear, ready for more

On my mission to seek and explore

But I am lost and all alone

But some day I will get home

[CHORUS]

But now I need to go

Cause I need to know

What the future will be like

I want to see a new horizon

That's why I must go on

Cause I need to know

About the future of mankind

I need to go

That's why I am here

That's my destiny

There will be a time

Peaceful and divine

And I do believe in tomorrow

Tomorrow will be so sweet

And the time moves on

But we can change our fate

It's not too late!

[SOLO]

[BREAK]

I've been travelling the vast

Of time to see at last

A gateway to a land

To be free in the end

But I'm lost and all alone

But some day I will be home

[CHORUS]

But now I need to go

Cause I need to know

What the future will be like

I want to see a new horizon

That's why I must go on

Cause I need to know

About the future of mankind

I need to go

That's why I am here

That's my destiny

There will be a time

Peaceful and divine

And I do believe in tomorrow

Tomorrow will be so sweet

And the time moves on

But we can change our fate

And I do believe in tomorrow

Tomorrow will be so sweet

And the time moves on

But we can change

Change our fate

It's not too late!

Power Metal evolved simultaneously in US and Europe, but I would say that Manowar is much more Heavy than Power, Helloween isn't pure Power Metal as well, imo.. epsecially with Deris

Coming From The Sky is amazing, it's a pitty Heavenly never did an album as good as this one again... but the rest of their discography is nice though.

The Power Metal as we know and love it started on a scene called First Wave of German Heavy Metal, when various bands entered the scene at almost same time, taking influences on all bands I mentioned before. Between them, there were Helloween, Grave Digger, Running Wild, Paragon and Blind Guardian. Parallelly, in the US, Manowar as doing something similar. The style cosolidated itself with the Keeper of the Seven Keys albuns, wich influenced bands like Rhapsody of Fire and Hammerfall.

Power Metal is a thing that just... happned. A lot of things walked down a long pah that lead to it. Yeah, Dio (actually most Rainbow), Judas Priest and Iron Maiden were big influences, no doubt on that. But there were A LOT of other bands who influenced power metal to be what it is today. Most of them were from US and appeared durning the late 70's and early 80's, like Cirith Ungol, Warlord, Jag Panzer and so on... Heck, even Jon-Mikl Thor was a big influence to the power metal scene.

even though I cringed through more than one part of this song, I can't help but also smile because under all the cheese there's a solid, headbanging, fist in the air type of song. Plus Kai and Pat? sold!

What are you talking about. Skinlab is for sure not power metal, neither is machinehead. You have completely the wrong idea what the Power Metal Genre is.

Power Metal was being played by Iron Maiden essentially. The first band though to be classed as Power Metal was Gamma Ray im pretty sure.
