After Johan left Arch Enemy, he went with a band called Hearse. This is the song "Torch" from Dominion Reptilian, their first studio album. I really like Torch and they constantly remind me that if Johan had stayed with Arch Enemy, he may have never made music like THIS :D

What was "gritty" about Arch Enemy's older brand of cleanly produced melodic death metal? I still find his work in that band to be mediocre and hard to stomach at times. His slobbering barks just didn't fit the music. His work in this band, however, is much superior. He seems to have cleaned up his vocals a tad, but also increased his growl just enough to seem radically better than his work with AE. And with AE's last flop of a release, this band is probably now their superior. Yay irony!12 years ago
