I can't decide if I like Hayes' or Ray Wylie's version better. They are both so great, and have a completely different feel.

A few things. I'm into all kinds of music, but I find myself trying to get y'all more into anything that sounds country/bluegrass/blues. I think that's because when people hear about that kind of music, they think of the radio country. Gag. So I wish people didn't see it like that. They're missing out on a lot of really good country/folk/Americana music, man. Also, I'm in *love* with Hayes Carll. The filthy things that I would do to this man aren't even appropriate to talk about. Not only is he one of the best up-and-coming songwriters of our generation, not only is he Southern, not only does his voice make me weak in the knees... he's also *bearded*. ::swoons::

@totallytubular12 What country-folk artist isn't to some extent a "Bob Dylan ripoff"? Clever lyrics + acoustic guitar = unoriginal? I think not; he's working within the confines of a genre. Plus, (not a dig on Bob, mind you...) Hayes' voice is tenfold more charismatic than Bob's. But, like you said, "to each his own".
