@burgersoft777 While Stewart indeed gave lots of tonal character (and wonderful solos) to Egg, that band's essential motor was Mont Campbell, who wrote most of their compositions. Once he left, Egg really fell apart. They did consider replacing Mont with someone else (apparently one Hugh Hopper), but I guess they realized that would've not worked.

saw them shortly after this at the canterbury festival - right after pip passed. Bought Phil Miller a beer at a pub, was great.

Well Fish Riseing is the only 100% satisfactory Hillage record and Dave's an important part of that sound.

I did catch National health live, for me they seemed like the less intresting bits of the North done to death. Can't say I really liked them that much, at the time. Listening to the LP's of theirs and Egg now I like them a little more.

What of Steve Hillage w/out Dave Stewart? Perish da taught! Dave's resplendant guidance on the Bruford solo rekkid, OMFgood golly! I dig him the most... But I do so love Tenemos Roads as well.

Holy crapman! Sinclair's facial contortions are priceless. Is there another instrument responsible for such involuntary muscle contractions? No, really... I've never seen the Hatfields or National Health live. And that hurts. Thanks for sharing such a welcome musical slab, NG.

To me Hatfeild and the north were a great band becuse of Sinclair. Although its fair to say Stewert did some of his best work with the North, it is still a great band without him. Egg on the other hand could not exist without Stewert. IMHO.

You sound like a Bob Dylan fan, Hatfield plays different incarnations, its obviously not as goo as 75 but who cares

Great band right up there with the likes of Gentle Giant and other 1st division Prog-jazz/fusion masters. Such a shame that they spent so many years apart.

Many thanks! I've listened to their music a thousand times, but never seen them before!

Thanks for the gift of this video. What's the line up here? I've just dusted off my Caravan, National Health, Hatfield, Bruford albums, settling in for a night of reminiscence....maybe even time for a spot of Gentle Giant.
