The chord changes in the chorus: that feeling you get when you hear something completely unexpected. Such an interesting Island/ Dub/ mature-easy/ pantone blues thing going on. Seductive undertone with the unison female vocals. Love Walter. All of half of Steely dan and absolutely nothing less. 50+50>100 in these cases. I do indeed admire and respect Walter's harmonic leanings. Playful, youthful maturity-- seriously, wouldn't you say?

What was it? 1993? I loved this album when it came out. My pal Kent and I tried parsing the lyrics to identify the immigrant. We decided it was everybody who ever felt alienated and distant and fish-out-of-water. Great musician, Walter Becker is. One of the best guitar players alive.

totally agree, the chorus has potential for great musical sonority

Ok....this would make such a cool arrangement for a big band.....bass, baritone sax, bass trombone doing unison bass line, alto sax for the melody and a swarm of brass for the chorus....I can hear it now.

Chops, man. The drummer has chops. Catch that cowbell fill-in and don't try it at home.

It's now clear why Donald would value a Walt B view of an arrangement......but it's gr8 stuff on its own.....nice work Walter....I bought 10 trax of Wacks when it wasn't fashionable to say one owned such aural accoutrement.........hooooray Henri am I.......

11 tracks of whack -- the first (Down in the Bottom) being WB at his blackest, and the 11th, this one, the man at his most humorous.
