I SO relate to Harry Chapin.. I feel his Energy Resonating in my Sole... No Shit... I feel his Spirit living on in me.. Insane, I know but anyway... Perhaps it's just my own positive energy but I feel I have made contact with Harry and I feel his Spiritual Energy flowing through me... I'll do my best to honor the Spirit.. and Do what is RIGHT and GOOD in this world... Harry Chapin was a Truly Great Folk Singer who Died far too early... A Truly Great Spirit that Lives on...

I got to see Harry in New Orleans (Saenger Theater) on what would ultimately be his final tour. It was the pinnacle of my life then as well as now. He greeted everyone in the audience after the show, promising to kiss all the women and shake all the men's hands. "But no pushing or shoving," he quipped, "as I'm going to be the last one to leave this place no matter how long it takes." My God, but what a great soul Harry had!

Truly a one of kind and sadly missed. Saw Harry in concert 11 times and everyone was better than previous one. Got to meet him once in Springfield, Illinois and truly a class act. I do have a lasting memory as my son is named Harry.

Never got the chance to see Harry, so many sad songs, (love them all) such a sad, tragic end to his life . . . so reassuring to see and hear him laughing and having a great time with his band and the audience . . . I like to think he had a happy, albeit relatively short, life RIP Harry.

Harry was the best. Saw him in concert a few times and even spent some time talking with him after one of his shows. A great and humble man...gone too soon. We miss you, Harry!

'Easy' has been a fave for forty years, and although this was a highly polished version, the original arrangement seemed more compelling.

I am delighted so many are listening to his music which is timeless.

I saw Harry live in Melbourne in 81 (I think) Just like everyone here said, he was a natural performer and a man with no pretensions. He spent at least half an hour after the show chatting with the audience, such a great bloke to talk to! People like Harry & Jim Croce too had a remarkable skill in connecting with the audience through their music. Still miss his great lyrics to this day.

Used to see Harry twice a year. He'd come through once in the 'big city' with the whole band and crew. He'd then come through the area, to a smaller town, a few months later. It would be just him, doing it for his charity, World Hunger Year, I think. He would take time to sign anything and everything.

Favorite of all times saw him in concert 3 times in S Fla., Miami Guzman Center, he took the time to meet his audience after. His feeling and lyrics are soo creative and touching, true stories all of his music, I drove a Taxi in early 1970's while in college and quite the feeling of that time I spent driving, yet looking back to what was and what's ahead was and what is unknown, yet keep the Faith and Dignity ... I was in Scotland when he passed and the bartender knew his music well ... Your music and encouragement will always be part of me ... Harry, Keep the Change ... Miss you Harry :->

Jeff, I graduated from U of I in 1976 and 1978. Saw him every year and at the Dance Marathons. He was such a great talent and had the best shows. He came and sat next to me one year at the Assembly Hall when he was walking around before the show. My date had left for the bathroom and when she returned, he let her sit in his lap. What memories.

I first heard him when I was.21 years ago. lip syncing while pretending to play a guitar I bought for $5 at a church fair. something about his words always hit with me. as I grew older, I would continue to re-listen to all his music and find better insight. Seeing my own mistakes. literally hearing his music from a different prospective than when I first heard them. it was like hearing them for the first time. but more clearer. especially after having destructive and beautiful relationships.

I, too, met Harry in Champaign-Urbana and was at the show he references. Harry was awesome. I was working with the campus radio station at the time, did an interview with him and then we played basketball with him and his band at IMPE (Intramural / Physical Education Building). As down to earth a performer as there ever was. Some of today's pampered performers should learn about how to treat their fans and also how to write music from Harry.
