"I am born today, the sun burns its promise in my eyes;

Mama strikes me and I draw a breath and cry.

Above me a cloud softly tumbles through the sky;

I am glad to be alive.

It is my seventh day, I taste the hunger and I cry;

my brother and sister cling to Mama's side.

She squeezes her breast, but it has nothing to provide;

someone weeps, I fall asleep.

It is twenty days today, Mama does not hold me anymore;

I open my mouth but I am too weak to cry.

Above me a bird slowly crawls across the sky;

why is there nothing now to do but die?"

Harry certainly knew how to tell timeless stories through his music.

For me, it is such a sad song...my cousin Erin lost her son, Hunter, when Hunter was only 11 days old (SIDS,or crib death, they figure). His was the saddest funeral that I have ever attended. This song always makes me cry; and in fact, I am crying right now....that poor boy never had a chance...Harry's passing was a real tragedy. He was SO talented, and, by all accounts, a very nice man :)

Husband, 3 kids and I saw Harry at a park in Jackson, Mi. I could sing all his songs, dancing with myself in my farmhouse kitchen, my partner a dish I was drying! I'm glad is voice is not silent, butt alive on UTube.

saddest song today... Harry gave so much to make things better, and he did, but one man is not enough, time is never enough...
