No one can do it better than the man who wrote it.

I heard Hank Jr. do this in concert about 25 years years back. Wow ! ! Can't decide who did it better. I was raised on Bocephus and the likes of Conway Twitty and George Jones, but Luke the Drifter is the best I never seen.

really glad to hear this. This is one of my favorite Hank Williams songs and is hard to find. There's one other on here, remastered by an individual, and one on greatest hits compilation. Both have some wonderful mandolin riffs, but this original odes not. I kinda think some music has been added to these versions. The 60s reissues had so many over dubs by the record company that original untouched recordings seem to be rare.

Amazing song, amazing singer. When my brother died recently, he requested that a Hank Williams song be played at his funeral and his request was honored. Needless to say,he was a major fan.

Over the years you can listen to many great singers, singing fantastic songs but they all date with age until you think to yourself, what did I ever see in that, but Hank William just gets better and better. I first heard Hank Williams in 1949, when I was just a kid, singing Hey good Looking. I took notice even at that early age, but music moved on and Rock and Roll took over. Although they were enjoyable years the music/voice of Hank, lingered on and these Unreleased Recordings are So Amazing

This is another song that was done on the Hank tribute, In The Hank Williams Tradition. Emmylou Harris sang it. Though not as chilling as Alone And Forsaken, it is none the less pure emotion Hank style. I identify very closely with this song.
