Wonderful job on the most famous composition ever for Sacramento's own "Okie" Paul Westmoreland.

Love this song. I had a Wizzer motor bike and I would ride and sing this song as loud as I could.

Yes, "Okie" Paul Westmorland wrote this. Western Music Roundup HONORED him shortly after his death.

A great 50's song recorded by many artists, both country and pop. But the 100% all-time BEST version has to go to Elton Britt, who recorded the original!

Thanks VCS. I know it was a big hit around the late 40's. There was a line that went something like: "...as I stumble down the Lip Stick Trail." By the way, if you like Patti Page, she's got a good version of "Detour.''

Hi Don! I don't have anything by Hank with this title, nor can I find where he (or anyone for that matter) did "Lipstick Trail." Can't imagine an "all-time great" by Hank that I'm missing. Are those perhaps just lyrics from another song? I'd really like to know more about this. Thanks for the note. —VCS

The Waco Wonder, Hank Thompson and the Brazos Valley Boys: I''ve looked everywhere for one of his all-time greats: Lipstick Trail. Does anyone out there have it to upload?

LOL .. I used to babysit Paul & Ola's kids - Crystal and David. David can sure make a sax sing. Ola had quite the voice. Her favorite song of Paul's was Bridge over Truckee River.

Can't say that it beats the Wesley Tuttle version, but it's pretty darn good.
