Korea - a waste of lives and resources.Vietnam - a waste of lives and resources.Iraq - a waste of lives and resources.Whenever ideologues come a running with their thoughts about the way things should be, human beings should run the opposite direction. Because it usually means that the average person is going to lose his or her life.If only we could let the ideologues go to war and let everyone else stay behind.Peace my brothers and sisters!

Let the sunshine inWe starve, lookAt one another short of breathWalking proudly in our winter coatsWearing smell form laboratoriesFacing a dying nationOf moving paper fantasyListening to the new told liesWith supreme visions of lonely tunesSomewhere, inside somethingThere is a rush ofGreatness. who knows what stands in front ofOur lives. i fashion my futureOn films in spaceSilence tells me secretlyEverything... everything...Manchester england, englandManchester england, englandAcross the atlantic seaAnd i'm a genius, geniusI believe in godAnd i believe that god believes in claudeThat's me, that's meThat's meWe starve, lookAt one another short of breathWalking proudly in our winter coatsWearing smell form laboratoriesFacing a dying nationOf moving paper fantasyListening for the new told lies with supreme visions of lonely tunesSinging my space songsOn a spider-web sitarlife is around you and in youAnswer for timothy leary dearyLet the sunshineLet the sunshine inThe sunshine inLet the sunshineLet the sunshine inThe sunshine in

This scene was such a tragedy when taken in context. George Berger, who was a conscientious objector, had taken Claude Bukowski's place in the army for a few hours, so Claude could be with his girlfriend. He was mistakenly deployed to Vietnam in Claude's place. The greatest tragedy is that, had Claude been deployed, he might have survived, but George, a pacifist, never stood a chance.

The Movie Hair... This is the most bizarre ending to a movie I have ever seen. A best friend hippie draft dodger tries to help his friend who was drafted meet with his other hippie friends for 2 hours by taking his place in the barracks for roll call,,, The hippie friend is then deployed overseas to Vietnam while taking his friends place and is killed. Meanwhile the person who was supposed to be deployed overseas to Vietnam lives.

These days people who fight in the wars in the middle east are called heros. The VN vets were not treated that way. There was a divide though. Military culture and anti military. But most people don't blame the soldiers these days, even though they are volunteers, unlike most of the Viet Nam soldiers. My father, who was in the military, thought that a volunteer army would be a bad thing.
