Nice and well orchestrated version but too smooth to my ears. I prefer the lively and exuberant style of the original 1920's recordings

In the second part of the 50's and in the 60's, the Lombardo Band made many albums that had a swing-jazz sound: "Lombardo Goes Dixie", "Play A Happy Song","Best Songs Are The Old Songs", "Lively Guy", "Lombardo With A Beat"....

Louis Armstrong was often quoted as saying that Lombardo's band was his favourite band to dance to.

The problem with the Gringo is the same as with Samson - in their rage at loosing world hegemony they have enough Nuclear bombs to bring down the temple we call Earth so that if they can't dominate it - it won't be available for anyone else to do so. Being the Jehovah botherers they are, they will be happy with that as they're all bound for Heaven on judgement day. The sooner the better !

Quote of Martin Scorsese :I love studying Ancient History and seeing how empires rise and fall, sowing the seeds of their own destruction. Enjoy the music.

Many thanks for that - exactly my thoughts when I saw her pic. Can't fault the Gringo for claiming she was one of 'theirs' since they * HiJacked Enigma code busting, * Celebrated the civilizing of the King of Siam, by a house maid [Twice] * Portray the annexing of 1/2 of Mexico as a war of liberation * Made film after film shewing the genocide of native Americans as a just war against evil savages

Hello Grzegorz - this upload looks and sounds magnificent - I especially like the photos of the gorgeous movie stars. The vocalist/lyrics/arrangement are all top notch - typical trademark of your vids. Thanks a lot and have a great half of the week - "over the hump" towards the coming weekend!!!

I recall reading that Louis Armstrong was a fan of Guy Lombardo. When asked why he said, because no one plays the melody any better.

Wonderful addition to your collection!!! Not only an Aussie pressing, but I must add an Aussie nugget of info in saying the year of this recording should be 1949... The flip side of this 78 is Hop-Scotch Polka. Has it as a kid, feel old thinking how many years back that was. Listening to this, proves the point good music never loses it's freshness and magic, esp a jaunty Lombardo version... Hop- Scotch is just as uplifting...!! Cheers Noel Melbourne. Victoria. Aus.

It just shows how enduring those 20's songs were--just as popular 15 years later as it was when new! Great version!

A really darling version of a perennial -- I'm not used to hearing Lombardo's band sounding so lively. ... You sure don't see today anything like the gorgeous actresses of the Golden Age.
