Why do idiots use U-tube to criticize guitar players and are stupid enough to compare players. Guthrie is an amazing talent, a very humble guy,stamps his own personality on this and makes it his own. Some beautiful playing. That takes some doing on such an iconic song. He plays with both amazing soul and if you cannot detect the melody when does play fast then you need to listen a little harder.

What was so special about Gary Moore was his ability to put quick runs into slow melodic solos so the speed complimented the solo. This is just playing fast for the sake of it, It doesn't say anything in the solo except 'look how fast I am'. Gary's live versions of this were far superior to this. Sorry.

Man i love the fact Guthrie just totally "punked" the rest of that band! No disrespect to the other musicians on stage (the singer could have done better, lets be honest) but i have always wanted to hear Guthrie play this solo with his feel. Gary Moore is my biggest inspiration as a guitarist and seeing the man himself (Gary) get down on his knees wile playing this solo will always bring a shiver to my spine.
