I only ever saw Norman Gunston over here in the UK on a one off tv special. I foundhim to be very funny, with his witty way of interviewing famous celebrities. And histrade mark pieces of Kleenex on his face, where he supposedly cut himself shaving.The show I saw, he was interviewing The Bee Gees, at the height of their fame, anda very young Ricky Shroeder, also Lief Garrett. all from the late 70's.

Gary McDonald's a fucking genius, it's a shame he never got the chance to catch on in North America. I suspect it was thought his humour was just too Aussie and Americans wouldn't get it, but in reality - just like Monty Python, or even something like Chinese food: sure its a taste that may be very recognizably national - but that doesn't mean its appeal can't be universal. Norman Gunston is absolutely hilarious.
