Absolutely fantastic song from one of my favourite bands.. Things I will keep from the amazing album Do the Collapse.. Gorgeous tune!!

Coded-ancient the crease

Unlock the timers

And strike the chimers

In my sleep

Grab the coat - Steal the fleece

From behind the curtain

It will most certainly

bring peace

To those with countless numbers

No cold or hot

Like things that I will keep

And hide them in my sleep

Coded ancient

Oh brightness we shall see

Loaded up and at night when

We shall flee

Not to tread through the

heavy life

Sink in the dream

On the right night

you'll find her waiting

Selling things for cheap

The things that I will keep

Maybe my favorite GbV song........Thank you for humoring me: I'm frustrated right now, and this is my go to band when I'm frustrated.

like most songs on this album, this song is begging to be played at a faster tempo. I blame Ocasek. don't know what he was going for.

this song is just magnificent. I forgot just how good GBV are; and am now trawling through all their old albums on youtube.

The chord sequence under "To those in countless numbers, no longer cold or hot like --" is thrilling: the whole sheet of it gets dramatically waved out and then gathered neatly right back up with a twist of the wrist for the line "things that I will keep". It's stupendous. And in that part Demos sits on the A for the E-chord in classic form; couldn't be better.

This is a tribute to Jim Shepard of V3/Vertical slit. If you've never heard Jim's stuff check it out. They toured together in 90-somthing.

I'm very jealous!! Ida loved to have seen them but alas I lived too far away lol. Longer show the better, I think Robert Pollard is an amazing songwriter!!
