SPECIAL APPEAL: If anyone would like to donate a 2 Terabyte hard disk drive or drives as a way of saying thank you for the work I do and to help me keep my library safe from future loss please get in touch.

Like most supergroups, GTR didn't stay together very long — only one year and one album with 1986's GTR. Comprised of guitarists Steve Howe (Yes) and Steve Hackett (Genesis), vocalist Max Bacon, bassist Phil Spalding, and drummer Jonathon Mover, the group didn't deviate from the progressive rock of Howe and Hackett's full-time bands. Nevertheless, the group managed to have a number 14 hit with "When the Heart Rules the Mind," and their album went gold. However, Hackett decided to go solo after their success, and his departure put an end to the group.

Someone requested this video from me years ago and I never bothered with it. Not because I didn't want to or disliked it in any way. It was simply a matter of horrible quality source files. They are so bad I couldn't see how I was going to make it decent enough to watch at high resolution.

From the four horrible quality low resolution files I have in my library of this same video, I picked the Rockamerica video tape transfer. It was better than the other three because it had slightly better image detail and was not quite as blurry as the others. It was saturated with tape noise and other bits of digital junk that took 3 attempts to calculate the proper filter combination that left the video very clean and free from this garbage. One damaged frame that is impossible to repair has been removed and an ugly white scratch on another frame has been repaired. A few tweaks to lighting, color and detail enhancement were made in the scale to HD resolution. Without a better source file from the record label this is the best that I can do with what is available.

Audio was a pile of shit on all 4 source files so I used the best one and heavily tweaked it in my sound studio to give it the punch, clarity and vibrance that just did not exist. It now sounds better than the rubbish that it was.

I hope you all enjoy this video upscale. Please share the link with your friends and I hope it doesn't end up being blocked in your country.

The bass player had less than a stellar career after this. He did a stint with Right Said Fred.

Front row tickets, Massey Hall Toronto, looking forward to the concert of my life, seated at stage left, planned on seeing my greatest guitar heroes facing off, due to being on the wrong side, saw nothing but elbows..
